Design and Innovation Program

Engage in design thinking and innovative problem-solving through hands-on learning experiences

Through the Design and Innovation Program, students in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 12 learn valuable technical skills by working with various tools, materials and technologies to bring their ideas to life. Students build skills in programming, computer-aided design, 3D modelling and printing, robotics, and other emerging technologies.

The hands-on, project-based nature of the Design and Innovation curriculum allows students to develop both the technical abilities and the creative mindset needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. Students work develop solutions to real-world challenges in our two well-equipped makerspaces.

The Design and Innovation Program at CIS aligns with ISTE standards, as well as with Alberta Education's IT and Computer Science Program, Career and Technology Foundation courses, and Career and Technology Studies courses.
