After-School Activities
Foster new friendships and join the fun
After-school activities enhance the student experience outside of the classroom. Activities cater to a wide range of interests, from sports to arts to environmental stewardship. Participation in after-school activities not only promotes teamwork and leadership but also supports student well-being.
Exploring personal interests, exercising, creating and spending time with peers is an important part of the student experience. Prospective universities often value student participation in clubs and sports when assessing applications for enrolment.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Students in Elementary School (Senior Kindergarten to Grade 5) have a wide variety of sports and clubs to choose from. Clubs and sports teams focus on fundamental skill development. There is no ability-based sorting, which means that all students who join will be able to participate, subject to space availability. Friendly matches, tournaments and showcase events are planned throughout the year. CIS has a competitive after-school Swim Team for students in Grades 2-12. Sport team training sessions, local tournaments and club meetings are included in tuition fees. There may be additional costs for special events or team uniforms.
Students may also join a range of unique extracurricular activities provided by external service providers. Activities include ice skating, roller skating, mountain biking, robotics, dance, karate and more. Extracurricular activities are an additional paid service.
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL
Students in Middle School and High School (Grades 6-12) can register for a variety of sports teams and clubs. Sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, track and field, badminton, and cross country running. We offer representative sports teams for students who wish to train and play at a competitive level, as well as developmental sports teams for students wishing to try a new sport and learn sport-specific skills in a less competitive environment. CIS has a competitive after-school Swim Team for students in Grades 2-12. CIS is a member of the International Schools Sports Association of Phnom Penh (ISSAPP), and the ASEAN Sports and Activities Conference (ASAC).
