IB World School

Cultivating curiosity and inspiring excellence
WHY ARE WE AN IB WORLD SCHOOL?

Becoming an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School was a natural progression for our school community. The IB mission fully supports our guiding statements. The IB learner profile encapsulates what we feel are important characteristics for tomorrow’s leaders.

WHICH IB PROGRAMS DO WE OFFER?

We are proud to offer the IB Diploma Programme (DP). We are currently an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school. This means we are actively working toward IB PYP authorization for the 2025-2026 school year.

WHAT IS THE IB?

The IB plays a significant role in shaping the educational practices and standards at CIS. It aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The IB mission is as follows:

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

WHAT IS AN IB EDUCATION?

An IB education is designed to provide a rigorous and globally recognized educational program. It emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and a holistic approach to learning.

WHAT IS THE LEARNER PROFILE?

The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. At CIS, we believe these learner attributes will support our students in becoming responsible global citizens

MESSAGE FROM THE IBDP COORDINATOR

In a world of advancing technology, our youth will need to rely greatly on essential skill sets that are developed throughout their educational experiences. Skills such as critical and creative thinking, active listening and communication, organization, affective and reflection skills, to equip them to engage and contribute positively to the world around them. Shaping future leaders not only involves academic achievement, but also fostering global citizenship, and empathy and understanding, so that our students can interact and thrive in our interconnected world.

-Jaclyn George, IBDP Coordinator
