Fine Arts

Discovery, reflection and transformation through the Fine Arts

Our Fine Arts Program is designed to inspire creativity, foster artistic expression and cultivate a lifelong appreciation of the arts. We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their passions for music, visual art and drama.

The fine arts are fully integrated into our curriculum from nursery to Grade 12. Classes are taught by experienced art educators passionate about inspiring creativity. Through the Artist in Residence Program, CIS regularly hosts renowned professional artists who also elevate the arts within our school community.

Fine arts classes are held in purpose-built spaces. Performing arts classes are held in our drama studio with flexible staging and lighting, and in the 480-seat John Crawford Theatre. Music classrooms are complemented by individual and small-group practice rooms, an orchestra room and a recording studio. Students studying visual art enjoy art studios and a pottery studio with potter’s wheels and kiln.

Many performances, including small morning concerts to large-scale musical theatre productions, take place throughout the school year. Students have plenty of opportunities to perform on stage or to contribute their talents to set design and backstage crews. Students regularly exhibit their mixed media artwork for peers, families and staff to enjoy. Field trips throughout Phnom Penh, including to the National Museum, local galleries and places of architectural interest, are a part of the curriculum.

The Performance Club, Photography Club, Guitar Club, Visual Art Club and Woodwinds Instrument Club are spaces where students with similar artistic interests can come together.
