High School

Grades 10–12
Pursue a personalized academic program for success

High school students need opportunities to discover their individual passions, and explore different ways of viewing the world. At CIS, we believe students require more than knowledge. Strong individual skill sets, social-emotional awareness, and the values befitting global citizens are all required. We provide flexible academic programs leading to four graduation pathways, enabling all CIS students to be successful in attaining their university and career goals.

CIS offers two internationally recognized programs of study that award a high school diploma: the Alberta High School Program and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Students receive guidance and support to help them navigate their educational journey. This support is offered in both Middle School and High School. Our academic counsellor assesses students' strengths, areas for growth, interests and goals to help them make informed decisions about their courses and career paths.

In Grade 10, all students follow the high school curriculum issued by the Ministry of Education of the province of Alberta, Canada. High school teachers at CIS specialize in core subject areas including English Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Health and Life Skills. Optional subjects such as Art, Career & Technology Foundations, Drama, Music, Khmer, Mandarin and French give students an opportunity to explore their interests.

In Grade 11, based on grades in Grade 10, students may choose one of four graduation pathways. Students remain in their chosen program for Grades 11-12. Below are the recommended grades students need in prerequisite courses to be successful in the programs.

Grade 12 culminates in a graduation ceremony and reception, which is typically held on the first Friday in June. This is a momentous occasion for students, parents and staff.

CIS has dedicated counsellors to support High School students’ social, emotional and academic needs. They provide guidance with personal challenges and academic planning, fostering a holistic approach to student well-being and success. Counsellors assess students’ academic strengths and goals, aid in course selection, and monitor academic progress. They provide strategies for effective study habits and guide students through the university application process. CIS hosts numerous university fairs throughout the school year.

Our facilities at Koh Pich Campus support the diverse interests and courses taken by High School students. Students make use of our library, sports complex, science laboratories, art studio, pottery studio, orchestra room and music practice rooms, makerspace, cafeteria and outdoor green spaces.
