Train and compete in a variety of sports

Through our Sports Program, students in Grades 2-12 have after-school opportunities to train and compete in basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, track and field, badminton, and cross country running. CIS is a member of the International Schools Sports Association of Phnom Penh (ISSAPP), and the ASEAN Sports and Activities Conference (ASAC). CIS participates in both local and international sports tournaments.

Our Sports Program is rooted in Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development model (LTAD). The LTAD model is a framework for an optimal training, competition and recovery schedule for each stage of athletic development.

Committing to an after-school sports team means training, competing and being a member of a team. Students learn about commitment, discipline, winning and losing, and teamwork. Students do not need to have prior training in a sport to play for a CIS team; all that is required is a positive attitude and a commitment to the team.

Each year in June, all athletes, parents and coaches come together to celebrate special achievements and teamwork at our annual Sports Banquet.
