Design thinking and innovative problem-solving
Students in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 12 learn valuable technical skills by working on design and innovation projects. with various tools, materials and technologies, such as to bring their ideas to life. They also build skills in programming, computer-aided design, 3D modelling and printing, robotics, and other emerging technologies.
The hands-on, project-based nature of the Design and Innovation curriculum allows students to develop both the technical abilities and the creative mindset needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. Students work develop solutions to real-world challenges in our two well-equipped makerspaces.
The Design and Innovation Program at CIS aligns with standards set by the International Society for Technology in Education, as well as with Alberta Education’s Information and Communication Technology Program, Career and Technology Foundation Program, and Career and Technology Studies Program.
